Big Bucket Ireland emerged in response to the evolving needs of the Irish education sector. Recognising the transformative impact that dedicated and well-equipped educators can have on the learning experiences of students, Big Bucket was established with the mission to empower teachers. The company’s founders, themselves experienced educators in EFL provision, envisioned a platform that would serve as a hub for continuous professional development among teachers new to the profession and those in mid-career. Part of the motivation for setting up BBL is the fact that many teachers, both in the formal and non-formal sector, are still using outdated teaching methodologies. This old-fashioned teaching tends to treat learners as passive, empty vessels, rather than fully alive human beings with ideas and creativity. Upskilling teachers with student-centred approaches is a crucial part of improving education in the EU bloc. BBL’s teacher training programmes are comprehensive and also forward-looking, addressing emerging trends in education, such as digital literacy and inclusive teaching methodologies. The dynamic nature of the educational landscape requires adaptability, and Big Bucket is promoting that message in all its courses and via EU-funded projects. Big Bucket Ireland goes beyond being a provider of training programmes; through networking events, Erasmus+ projects, forums, and collaborative initiatives, Big Bucket encourages a culture of shared learning and ongoing professional development in Dublin, Ireland, and across Europe.
